I would like to be able to display fields from multiple entities in the same view (if not from the out-of-the-box views, at least when you do an advanced find). I have an event entity and my users want to see the event, the date and time of the event, the contact who is registered for the event, their home, mobile, and work phone numbers as well as their email addresses all in the same view. This is not easily possible without some coding.

Thanks for your suggestion. Displaying fields from related entities can already be done in views. In Advanced Find, click Edit Columns, Add Columns, then choose the related record type from the Record Type picklist (see attached screenshot).
