Through the Safety stock-calculation we already have the possibility to calculate the ROP-levels based on the average issue during lead time. However, as the Master scheduling regards the date when the Minimum quantity is reached as a Requirement date (Delivery date) - and not as an Order date, the ROP-concept is anyway not applied.

In a ROP-scenario, you should firm your Planned order at the date when the on-hand is down to the minimum quantity - not before.

Thank you for your feedback.

During 2021 release wave 2, we shipped "Priority based planning" for Planning Optimization, which allows you to fulfill the orders where the net flow is lower than the reorder point.

Details on priority based planning can be found in:

For your information:

For a customer, we have built a new solution, which is based on the standard report ‘Critical on-hand inventory’. As this report shows items where the on-hand is below the minimum requirement (in this scenario equal to the automatically calculated reorder-point), and with the additional information on already open procurement order quantities (‘ordered’), we could use it to trigger an automatic creation of a Planned order, but in this case with a forward-calculation of the delivery date (from Today’s date).

This solution makes use of the outcome from the Safety stock calculation, when the minimum is calculated based on the parameter ‘Use average issue during lead time’.

Personally I feel that this option should be parametrized so that it leaves flexibility with the user to plan based on individual requirement depending on the lead times of the suppliers.

No, sorry. If you do so, the MRP next day will neither consider your replenishment order (that you created the day before), but instead propose to procure again, Or do you suggest to plan those items manually?

If you run a plan for these items individually where you only look at inventory and not inventory transactions, you should be able to create this effect.
