Search fields work differently across the platform.

Quick search, look ups - basically most search fields that show a magnifier as a search icon - use "begins with" as the search logic and one has to put * to search with the "contains" logic.

However, there are some input fields that use the "contains" logic and don't find records, if one puts the *.

For example when creating segments both kinds of behavior can happen:

  • If I add an attribute that has a look up, it uses the "begins with" logic, so I have to put the * to find something that does not start with the word I am looking for.
  • If I add a behavioral criterion, e.g. an e-mail that was sent - when I search for said e-mail I would not find it if I put the *, because this input field uses the "contains" logic and does not show records if they do not include *.

It would be really helpful to apply the same search logic to every input field. That would make working a little bit more efficient.
