When update 204 was applied to our production instance of Dynamics 365 the database size increased by 9%.

Having logged a call with Microsoft support, we were told that the update applies changes to plugins, workflows and other collateral which caused the increase and that there was nothing that could be done about it.

From our perspective we had a certain number of records before the update, and the same number after the update, but now need 9% more storage to house them.

When a software update is applied to other products, such as Microsoft SQL Server, this does not affect the underlying database sizes, only the software package itself. This should be the case for Dynamics 365 online.

We will subsequently need to purchase additional storage because of this increase, which is unacceptable.

Future software updates should not affect database size.
