it could be useful to manage (at least at the inventory level), units of measure or conversions of units of measure also on item variants.

Yes yes... We have a customer he needs this especially for his business. At the fashion branch, variants are often meassures like s, m, l, xl and so on. So, it would be very helpful to know, if Microsoft has an higher interesst at this, before we will develop something at this issue.
