There is a need for a situation which appeared several times, to manage time change in the master planning.
The idea is to set a reservation on a resource when a production order follow an another production order, between them.
It could be a good idea to use the sequencing.
Each released product could be attached with a sequence and these sequences could be ranked by priority.
Timing could be set on a matrix to know how long the time between 2 production orders should be, depending on which sequences are following each others.
This time change will be planned in advance by the MRP, but has to be automatically updated in case any change in the production scheduling.
Comments
To clarify my point, I would like to say that sequencing is only available with Batch orders (BO). It would be ideal if it was available for production orders too.
A sequence is determined by a following of batch orders that have a common sequence item. These change times could apply to sequence change.
When in the planning there is a break of sequence (change of sequence value) a change time will be applied, the duration will be based on the setting of the times between the sequence values (*).
These times could be passed on all of the batch orders of the two sequences in question in terms of cost.
There is a exemple to illustrate it.
A factory which product paint.
We have
Cans of black have the sequence value black and can
Cans of white have the sequence value white and can
Bottles of black have the sequence value black and bottle
Bottles of white have the sequence value white and bottle
Times when there is a break of sequences in planification.
(*)
White ->10 min ->Black
Black->30min->White
Bottle->15min->Can
Can->15min->Bottle
if we have BO black bottle ->BO black can there will be 15 min between these 2 Batch orders
if we have BO black bottle ->BO white bottle 30 min between these 2 Batch orders
if we have BO black bottle->BO white can 30+15 min between these 2 Batch orders
