This is a suggestion for Engineering Change Management (ECM). Before switching to a new engineering version, the system should provide an automated way of using up remaining inventory on the old version. There are customers that use ECM for versioning, but they have additional requirements to use up the remaining inventory rather than scrapping it. Right now, our only option is to use the Product lifecycle state to allow Sales and Production until all remaining inventory has been used up, and then we activate the new version.
