Dynamics provides a backup of production instance going back to 30 days, however, these backups are unavailable for selection if you want to restore the production environment with its own backup which is older than 7 days. The current process for restoring a production instance is to downgrade it to a 'Sandbox' type, the moment that happens you can no longer select the 30 days backup but only the backups of last 7 days. It would be useful to be able to use the backups that are actually available but just aren't visible on the admin portal.

The current situation allows for creating more problems. As Alekhya mentioned, changing the production environment to Sandbox will result in losing the backup that needs to be restored. Currently the process to restore a backup correctly would be:

- Restore the backup to a new sandbox environment. (Creating the sandbox would require 1GB of database storage)
- Configure the production environment to be a sandbox (which removes the backups of > 7 days old)
- Copy the organization from the first step to the production environment, which is now a sandbox (required as the name/url of the production environment cannot be reassigned to the new sandbox)
- Configure the environment to be a production environment again.
- Remove the temporary backup sandbox from step 1.

This must be made easier.
