Hi,

any update on the suggestion made by Roberto Stefanetti earlier? We would also need to be able to purchase resources for Jobs and I would imagine this would not be that difficult to implement. It might actually be not more complicated than just accepting the Type::Resource in the validation of Job No. field in the Purchase Line table? At the moment it only accepts Item and G/L Account:

IF NOT (Type IN [Type::Item,Type::"G/L Account"]) THEN
FIELDERROR("Job No.",STRSUBSTNO(Text012,FIELDCAPTION(Type),Type));

(the code is from Business Central 14 but I think it's still the same)

hi,
it would be very useful to be able to use it also with Jobs and Tasks, it seems that it is not possible by entering a purchase order manually.
If I purchase hours from external resources, I would charge them directly on the job.

Thanks
Roberto

In a common process user (non-accountant) creates a purchase quote or a purchase order. Even for ordering services (such as training, consultation, etc.). The user have to select Type=G/L Account and then pick the right G/L Account No. And here is the problem. They never know what to pick.
It would be nice to have a list of resources such as "IT Training", "Consulting", "Maintenance", etc. and possibly Work Type for more accurate service specification and pricing (connected to the resource procelist).

I do agree that the request is logical, but to me there is no reason to buy resources. As commented above, an Item could be used where Type=Service, or even Type=Non-inventory. As you use Items, you can use the same pricing logic (which is better compared to the resources). Or have translations even.

For the divisive purposes, it is clear that we like to keep the goods (items) separated from the work (resources). But for this divisive reason, we can filter Items based on Item Type (Inventory, Service, Non-inventory).

Also, we could use G/L accounts for work related purchases, if needed

At present, we, like many other partners, have realized the possibility of purchasing resources via an industry solution. It has always been difficult to explain to customers that they should create articles for services to be purchased (according to Microsoft). The adjustments are not really extensive and also offer the possibility of prices and discounts in purchasing.

Also then the possibility, to have a multiple purchase prices and discounts on the resource card
