Hi,
Currently users are able to rename a Main Account ID even if there are posted transactions.
There is only a popup window saying that all references have been changed (on posted and unposted transactions). If the user was mistaken, it says to rename value back.
This behavior is very dangerous as it is forbidden by law to modify any data in a posted transaction.
My suggestion would be to have the same error message when renaming the Main account as if we clic on "delete" button :
"A financial dimension value is based on the XXXXXX record and has been used on a transaction. You cannot modify the XXXXXX record ID"
Thank you and best regards,
Mylène

No ERP allows any normal user to modify/rename Main Account code. It would have significant impact while doing financial reporting and also it would impact third party integration. We strongly encourage the Microsoft Product team to consider implementing this change in Dynamics 365.
