Extended item search functionality from search description to an advanced string. When there are 100K and over items it is really painful to work on the item list.
Search string has to reasonably long enough to store lengthy string value instead of 50 / 100 , Define a setup based on item or item related fields to form the string. Any key words entered are searched in the string to fetch most appreciate result based on the values in the new search string.
BY default, use item description as default search, this new feature is enabled through a setup. Refresh the search string when the values of the configured fields change dynamically.

Every search request should actually be consolidated with other ideas related to search. In general BC needs a faceted, high speed intelligent search across all entities across the whole product and inside lists. This goes for items as well. SAP and NetSuite should not be ahead of Microsoft when it comes to search.
