Navigation pane in DAX was collapsed while in DOP it expanded which make it more difficult for user to find the required link and make it less user friendly.

It used to be collapsed in some preview versions, but then it was changed based customer feedback. Of course, it doesn't mean that every single user likes it, but it indeed was an intentional decision.
