If you use the excel template from the general ledger journal header ('Open lines in Excel' option) and create the journal lines in the template, then publish it back to the journal and post the journal from the journal header without going back into the journal lines, the 'Lines' field on the journal header record (LedgerJournalTable) which should get updated with the number of lines does not get updated.
