We are new to Business Central but noticed that when creating a new company the system (in our case Belgian localisation) defaults to Dutch for system-supplied codes and descriptions, the chart of accounts, .... This seems to be irrespective of Office 365/Azure tenant setting and/or admin and/or user setting. E.g. The short codes KLT (short for 'Klant') and LEV (short for 'Leverancier') are used as business relation codes in the marketing setup. But there are lots of other places where Dutch is used instead of English.

Our tenant is default set to English, and the user interfaces of all of our programs including Business Central is English due to the multiple nationalities and languages in the company. I do not see why a system set to use an English as a language would use Dutch descriptions and codes.

It looks very weird when English is the UI language. and it is contra-intuitive when developing in AL or calling APIs where all comments and code (and the AL language itself) are English, but you have to refer to Dutch abbreviations.

In short: the default codes delivered with the tenant or localisation should be 'neutral' (English) or user configurable, but not default to one language or another.

(Side note: We are noticing more and more that regional settings, language and keyboard settings are being mixed in new Microsoft developments. E.g. Microsoft Teams app language determines date format. E.g. OneNote (Windows) defaulting the spell checking language to the keyboard setting, Etc. These settings in the OS or tenant serve a purpose and should be interpreted as defined by the user/admin. Setting a keyboard lay-out, currency, the format of the date and the language used should all be able to be determined independently from each other. That is the reason why they are stored on OS level in separate settings.)

Thank you for submitting this idea. What you describe does sound like bugs. Please report it through the proper channels.
Business central does get the user language setting from Office (in cloud) if using the "Update from Office 365" feature. Also, the application should of course respect the language setting of the user, given the proper language apps are installed.

Thanks.
