When inventory journal update fails, for example when posting the journal breaks, the journal header is set to System blocked. When this happens, user cannot update the journal anymore. In AX 2012, users could uncheck the System blocked field in the inventory journal header.

In Dynamics 365 for Operations, this is not possible anymore. The user needs to open table browser (for example https://INSTANCE.operations.dynamics.com/?mi=SysTableBrowser&prt=initial&cmp=COMP&tablename=InventJournalTable&limitednav=true), find the journal and change the SystemBlocked field to false.

This is already supported in D365 - from the first version.

Here is how:

  1. Open the Journal

  2. Switch to Header view (Ctrl+Shift+H)

  3. Expand the "Blocking" fast tab.

  4. Set "Locked by system" to No by clicking it.

Note: This control is only editable when the value is Yes.   In other words you can only change it from Yes to No - not from No to Yes.

Best regards,
Michael
