When you have a sales order with many lines and some of those lines are partially shipped and invoice, it can be cumbersome to see the exact qty that is still open or outstanding per line
The field outstanding qty is already used via the item card => go to field "Qty on sales order" and check the details.
It would be handy to have this column also available in the SO line.
May be also add a SO line field called 'Back Order qty'.
When there is an outstanding qty and the shipment date is before the current date, then the Back Order Qty should be the same as the Outstanding qty.
The advantage of this column is, that \you can sort on this column and see the back order qty on a large SO very fast.
Comments
We are running in to the issue in BC where it simply does not have a back order function. Other ERPs like GP have a separate Back Order Document, which gets created automatically but could be created manually as well. Splitting a sales order into 2 documents as a workaround for this (avail vs back ordered) is not acceptable to many customers. Additionally, when the BO quantities become available to fulfill in BC, having the system auto-fulfill and notify the user is also necessary to ensure it doesn't get skipped or left aside just waiting.
