Although all Inventory journal postings have a financial impact, there is not the same level of configurable approvals as the journals within general ledger.
I would expect that the same approval framework be either:
- Simple approvals (report as ready > approve > post)
- Workflow based approval (submit > approve via workflow > post)
Are there plans to put inventory journal approvals / workflow templates in place?

I tested this workflow in 10.0.9 environment and found that Validation button is throwing this message shown below before submitting the workflow.
"Journal '00103' cannot be posted since it is not approved."
I want to to check my entry is correct or as a workflow submitter by clicking the validation button.
But Validation button is not checking the error and telling me that the journal should be approved.
If I remove this workflow setup from Inventory Journal Names, the validation throw an error like this for the same entry.
"Offset account is not specified.
Setup of ledger account for Inventory expenditure, profit is not specified."
I need the same error message even when I use the workflow.

Hi,
My business has had to add Inventory Workflow as a customisation as it is required for delegation compliance in our business. To write off inventory (count adj journal) this require delegation approval. I would love to see a fully fledged set of workflow for Inventory. It would make our system compliant with our auditors and remove a customisation we have. happy to provide any more feedback and comments to get this one on the road map.

Please also add the possibility to set financial dimensions on the inventory journals. The tab exists in all GL journals but not when it comes to inventory journals. Workflow or approval of inventory journals is highly appreciated. Today the internal audit almost requires that an inventory counting journal should be approved systemwise before it can be posted. .
