The scenario is the customer often recieved payments from customers for the exact same amount. For example on the 1st of Dec the bank statement shows two amounts for exactly $100.00, but only one the customer side so it just matches it against the first amount. Where this could be wrong. The idea is if the exact same amount is shown rather dont match and let the user match manually.

Thank you for the suggestion.

In release 10.0.14 a feature named "Require manual matching when advanced bank reconciliation matching rules find multiple documents that match on amount" was introduced.  This feature created a parameter located in the Cash and bank management parameters > Bank reconciliation tab that allows for duplicates to be managed manually by changing the parameter to Yes.  If the parameter is set to No duplicates will continue to match as they did prior to this feature being introduced.

Good news folks! I just received an email from Microsoft letting me know that manual matching in the case of duplicates can be turned back on in version 10.014 (Oct 2020) under Feature Management.

Any duplicates would better be served to handle manually. Tighten the rules from manual processes rather than having to mistrust the matched data is incorrect.

I have been arguing with Microsoft for weeks that matching to the first item in the case of duplicate matching items is not something any customer would want to happen. D365 version 7.2 used to not match any of the items that were duplicates and that is how you want it. Manually matching duplicates is so much easier than reviewing hundreds of matched items to see if any were incorrectly matched. They have told me "works as designed" (as they do with any of their bad functionality) and to post here. I will continue to escalate this issue through another channel and will direct people here to vote up this idea. Thank you for posting.
