On an Opportunity / Quote / Salesorder form, the Product sub-grid (Opportunity product / Quote detail / Salesorder product) have 3 defaults (observed on v9.0), listed in descending priority:
1) The default sub-grid is based on a non-customizable view, so we can�t choose which columns to display. If we select another view, then we lose the inline editing behavior for every column except �Quantity�, even if we add an �Editable grid� control. In other words, we must choose between the ability to customize the columns and the inline editing behavior. As customers (almost) always want to customize the choice of columns, it�s difficult to explain the loss of the inline editing behavior.
2) The default sub-grid�s inline editing behavior doesn�t allow to set the Price per unit even when we are in the �Override price" mode (ispriceoverridden). There is a lack of consistency: we can change the Price by opening the form but not directly via the sub-grid.
3) On the default sub-grid, the cell content is not aligned with the column header. Also, lock icons are overlay on the value and make it difficult to read. This is a lack of ergonomics.
The first point is the most troublesome (I would say it�s an issue, but the MS Support didn�t share this point of view). Anyway, it�s very disadvantageous and hard to understand, especially in a solution designed to be highly customizable.
I hope that the fixing of the first point would be an opportunity to also improve the two others.
