ADR points calculation are based on UN category, weight/volume and shipped quantity. However, this is not exactly how it has been set up within D365. Standard hazardous material total points calculation only takes the following the formula: load line qty * hazardous material item quantity (if limited = yes) * hazardous material multiplier.

Therefore, you should have the hazardous material item's inventory unit set up as e.g. liters or kilograms. Since this is not always the case it should be possible to register the gross weight of the hazardous materials component on the hazardous material management tab and include this value in the total points calculation.

Example:

-       Hazardous item gross weight = 2,2 kg

-       Hazardous item net weight = 2,07 kg

-       Hazardous item quantity = 1

-       Multiplier = 3

-       Load line quantity = 10 pcs

Standard D365 = 10 * 1 * 3 = 30

Official ADR = 10 * 1 * 2,2 * 3 = 66

ADR calculation is correct, and it's definitely possible to set it up in the way you mention under "Official ADR", but it needs one more piece of setup you didn't mention - the unit on the hazardous material record. The calculation then happens like this (this is also in the online documentation):

(Load line Qty converted to Hazardous Material Unit) * Quantity (on Hazardous Material) * Multiplier

So, let's say I have A0001 in pieces and each piece contains 2,07kg of a hazardous item with 3 ADR points per kg. I can set up my item using Quantity = 2,07, Multiplier = 3, Unit = pcs and get 6,21 ADR points for a load line with Qty = 1.

I can also change the configuration and set Quantity = 1, Mulitplier = 3, Unit = kgADR and then specify a unit conversion between pcs and kgADR: 1 pcs = 2,07 kgADR. This will also give me 6,21 ADR points for the same load line.

Only if I set Quantity = 1 and Unit = pcs do I then get a wrong calculation with 3 ADR points that you point out in the post.

UPDATE

This idea is obsolete. It is possible by standard.

Either the field quantity on hazardous material item or unit conversion can be used to calculate it according to ADR standards.
