Today, Business Central provides a powerful and flexible Attribute framework for Items, allowing users to define extensible characteristics such as color, material, or custom classifications.

However, no comparable functionality exists for Vendors (Creditors).

This creates limitations in real-world scenarios where companies need to classify and analyze vendors in a structured and flexible way.

In many organizations, especially in manufacturing, procurement, and international environments, vendors must be enriched with additional structured information, for example:

  • Vendor classification (strategic / operational / preferred supplier)
  • Certifications (ISO, sustainability, compliance)
  • Supplier type (manufacturer, subcontractor, service provider)
  • Risk level or rating
  • Regional or sourcing categories

Currently, this can only be achieved by:

  • adding custom fields (limited flexibility), or
  • using dimensions (not designed for master data classification),
  • or building custom extensions

Introduce a standard Attribute framework for Vendors, similar to Items:

  • Define reusable vendor attributes (name, type, values)
  • Assign multiple attributes to each vendor
  • Allow filtering and reporting based on these attributes
  • Ensure compatibility with Power BI and reporting tools

Standardized master data classification for vendors

Improved procurement analysis and reporting

Reduced need for custom development

Better alignment with Item Attribute functionality

Strong support for international and M&A scenarios
