Within the Quote form, I add many Quote Line products, and reorder them, bringing some high up in the order.
Then I generate this Quote into an OOTB Word template "Quote summary".
However, the order of the Quote Line products in the Word template is not adjusted, but the original order in which I added the products.
Therefore, the order of the products of the generated Quote Word template is incorrect and does not conform to Quote.

And another 3 years have now passed since the post. It's getting harder and harder to use D3365 CE without these basic features for document templates. I slowly no longer believe that anything will happen here. It was even removed years ago the arrows to change the order within line item. So our customers have to use other systems or switch to ERP systems from the offers on. Sadly, however, time is rather invested in AI areas that rarely make a difference in the day-to-day business.

It is unbelievable that this simple adjustment has not yet been made. It was bad enough not being able to group items with subtotals. With these simple solutions it would be possible to acceptably use the word template

I was told by Microsoft support that this is OOB (Out of Box) behavior. But why would Microsoft make it so that you can rearrange the products in Dynamics 365, but exporting Estimates/Orders/Invoices to Word or PDF (or printing) would not reflect that rearrangement? I can’t imagine any reason why anyone would want this kind of behavior. Every other CRM and order management system known to man allows you to rearrange products and it's a basic function that your export or printout would reflect the rearrangement. Microsoft, you need to fix this.

I agree as well. At my organization, we have had to utilize Power Automate and multiple template versions just to provide the proper formatting for our salesmen. It's shocking how many features that exist in Crystal reports or SSRS can't be done with this Word Template functionality.. especially sorting a table!!

This is absolutely critical to be able to use Word Templates for Quotes in combination with the new really nice feature "Export to PDF". Without being able to have proper sorting it will not work using Word Templates for Quotes to Customers where list of products are included.

I agree... it's something damaging. It is so damaging that users no longer use CRM to generate their quotes. They do it in Excel or Word and only if it is signed by the client they enter it again in CRM. What a waste of time, what a loss of data because of course they do not enter anything in CRM if it is not signed!
