DPP (Digital Product Pass) and the possibilities and demands that this new EU directive/rule are demanding.
Short intro to the DPP:
The Digital Product Passport is an initiative under the EU's Circular Economy Strategy, aimed at ensuring that information about products' material content, recyclability, repairability, and other environmental characteristics becomes accessible and transparent to producers, consumers, and other stakeholders throughout the product's lifecycle.
The purpose of the Digital Product Passport is to promote sustainability by making it easier to repair, reuse, and recycle products, as well as to reduce waste and environmental impact.
All products in the future will need a smart QR code which all consumers will be able to scan in the shop/internet to see and understand what, when and where the products consists of and from where they come from/being produced.
Currently BC only supports up until around 2.000 alphanumeric characters, but the QR codes can consist of a 4.300 alphanumeric characters.
The requirements for item information is really important in relation to ESG/Sustainability reporting and right now we are quite limited to enter the data and categories, it would be nice if it was possible to add data such as plastic, cardboard, metal etc in grams/kilos and then map this to a category in the Sustainability reporting and the related chart of accounts.
