Scenario:

In Purchase Order
1. created PO#1 Athens Desk -16 pc, with Exp Receipt date 2-June-2021
2. created PO#2 Athens Desk -100 pc, with Exp Receipt date on 9-June-2021

In Sales Order
3. created SO#1 Athens Desk 5 pc with Exp Shipment date on 9-June-2021

Findings: D365 Business Central auto reserved SO#1, Athens Desk - 5 pc against
a. PO#2 – 5 pc.

Sales Order auto reservation should reserve against earliest Purchase Order.
Current D365 Business Central design is based on Just-in-time (JIT) philosophy to reserve SO against a PO (Expected Receipt Date) that 'closest' to SO Expected Shipment Date.

Most users would agree that system should reserve against
i. On Hand Quantity
ii. PO#1 - Earliest available PO, when this PO is fully reserved then move on to next PO
iii. PO#2.

For clients dealing with electronic products (with manufacturer warranty) or food with expiry date, the correct reservation sequence become very critical.
Current BC reservation sequence (i.e. reserve against PO#2) would suggest Last In First Out (LIFO) instead which is wrong.

Having stock movement and reservations to consider FIFO is fairly important. Please consider and relook at current reservation concept.
