Would highly appreciate brining this feature to on-premises. It seems there are no technical limitations to bring this to on-premise.
Another approach would be to open-source https://apps.shopify.com/dynamics-365-business-central - So partners and customers can connect their on-premise setups to Shopify on their own.
There are still certain situations where the cloud is no real possibility (e.g. production facilities + sales units in the Philippines) due to missing reliability of internet and electricity.
