DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM:
When adding lines in a general journal, the first line number generated is ‘1’. We click on new, the next line is added ABOVE and the line number is ‘-1’. When the line with number ‘-1’ is selected, the next line number generated is ‘-2’. If line number ‘1’ is selected at this point and we click new, the next line number generated is ‘-0.5’. If the topmost line is selected, the numbers keep on decreasing but if any of the other lines are selected, the line number is generated is the mean of the current and the line number above.
In the case of SO and PO, the new line is inserted BELOW and hence it takes the next line number after '1' as '2'. But once the third line is inserted with the cursor on line number '1', the next line number generated is '0.5'.
