Problem Statement

The current Legacy (classic) Dashboard Designer has not kept pace with the modern Power Apps / Field Service experience, creating several functional gaps:

  1. Views and charts using the "Does not contain data" filter condition are not selectable when building system dashboards. Any view or chart built on this filter (e.g., Work Order → Bookable Resource Booking relationships) simply does not appear in the component picker.
  2. Doughnut/donut charts are only available in the Interactive Experience Dashboard ("Switch to classic"), and render as a static image with no live preview in the modern designer — they are not usable in standard system/user dashboards.

As a result, makers must either redesign their analytics around these limitations or revert to legacy experiences, leading to inconsistent dashboards and extra effort.

Use Case / Scenario

A Field Service administrator wants to build a system dashboard that:

  • Surfaces records using a "Does not contain data" filter (e.g., Work Orders without an associated Bookable Resource Booking) to highlight unassigned work.
  • Visualizes booking distribution using a doughnut chart for quick at-a-glance status.

Today, neither component can be added to a modern system dashboard, blocking a common operational reporting need.

Suggested Solution

Deliver a modern, unified Dashboard Designer that:

  • Fully supports all view filter conditions (including "Does not contain data" and other relationship-based filters) when selecting views/charts.
  • Provides native support for all chart types (including doughnut) with live preview, without requiring the legacy Interactive Experience designer.
  • Ensures parity between the dashboard designer and the modern Advanced Find / view designer capabilities.

Business Impact

  • Reduces admin workarounds and reliance on deprecated legacy experiences.
  • Delivers consistent, reliable reporting across Field Service and CE apps.
  • Improves maker productivity and dashboard adoption.
