Summary

Users need to configure Time, Date, Region, Time Zone, Language, Date Format, and related settings in multiple different places across Microsoft products such as Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, Outlook, browser settings, and operating system settings. This can be confusing and time‑consuming, especially for customers outside the US.

Current Challenge

From a customer perspective, it is often unclear:

  • Which settings take priority
  • Which product controls which display behavior
  • Why the same user sees different date formats or language behavior across products (for example, Sales App, Outlook add‑in, Copilot for Sales, or web apps)

Even when users have configured their locale correctly (for example, New Zealand or other non‑US regions), they may still experience inconsistent formatting due to settings being distributed across multiple configuration points.

Suggested Improvement

Consider providing a more unified and discoverable configuration experience, such as:

  • A single central location (or clearly linked configuration hub) where administrators and users can review and manage regional, language, and format preferences
  • Clear guidance on how settings are resolved and prioritized when multiple products interact (for example, Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, Outlook).

This does not necessarily require removing product‑specific flexibility, but rather improving clarity, visibility, and consistency to reduce confusion and support a smoother user experience.

Business Value

  • Reduces configuration friction for global customers
  • Improves adoption and satisfaction for non‑US regions
  • Decreases support incidents related to locale, language, and date/time display issues
  • Provides a more predictable and user‑friendly experience across Dynamics 365 apps
