Business case: I am working with 2 legal entities. LE 1 has entity language set to italian LE 2 has entity language set to english System language is english I have a released product with an EN and IT translation When i go to the released products list page or add items in a sales order I will always get to see the products with EN name and description Desired situation (2 possibilities): 1 When going to IT company, show me products in italian, when going to EN company show me in EN 2 show me the product name and description according to the language set in my user preferences

Displaying product and category names in accordance with user or legal entity in mulitinational environment is a must for implementation for client operating worldwide. Our client operate in few countries with different languages. It's a problem to prepare consistent processes for purch and sales as the list of categories and products display only in one system language. Users from different countries cannot properly carry out sales and purch processes as they cannot read product and category names, which are crucial for document lines. Coherent files is obligatory in a large organization like my client's one.

I can confirm that this feature causes a bug when opening ReqTransOverview form....

Unfortunately it brings activates the bug, but I was not able to get the feature running.

Luckily I was able to deactivate the feature...

I think this feature has a bug. When system try open ReqTransOverview form, it give an error

This feature is available in AX2012: product name field is shown according to the setup of company language.

I don't understand why it's changed in D365 without any parameter provided to give client more options.

Any progress on this request?

It's painful to convince users to accept workaround solution like "search name" ...

This is a basic requirement for international client.

All the "product name" shown in forms should be shown in company or user language accordingly, included but not limited in

  • Purchase order lines
  • Sales order lines
  • Planned orders
  • On-hand inventory
  • ...

To use different languages for products it is a must for every modern ERP system. Every other ERP system I know have a solution for that out of the box.

We are now facing a rollout in China, and I really do not know how to implement D365 in China without a local translation. I cannot imagine how it will be possible to search for products in the sales order creation with a Chinese keyboard when the product name is English.

Our international D365FO roll-out (>1.000 users) is blocked until this issue is fixed

Working in an international company with legal entities in dozens of countries with different languages I have to say it's a pain working with a system not supporting different languages of the product name.

With each new implementation in a new country the situation is getting worse!

Please consider this feature on your roadmap, it's a must for international companies with entities in different countries!

Just has this topic again on one of our new implementations. The customer was astonished, that this should not be possible.
Please take this idea to you road map.

Hello it is almost December 2021. Why Microsoft hasn't imporved that, since the first requests come from 2019?????

Preferred solution would be to show the translation based on the user language, if not found - fall back to the company language or other defined language fall back rules, and only at the very end - to the global system language.
For international holdings with companies in different countries it's an absolute must. But there are also countries with several official languages, like Switzerland. User should be able to see a product name in any of those languages if translations are set up.
