When an Item Variant is mandatory it should also be full supported in inventory Journals.
If you Calculate Inventory, and select "Item not in Inventory" and "Incl. Item with no transaction" in a Inventory Journal.
You will get Inventory Lines with Blank Variant code.

When calculating the stock balance in the inventory journal and ticking both Items not in stock and Include item without transactions, the variant codes should be included in the inventory journal, but not.
