In AX2012, the Price unit field is directly named 'Price Unit', while in D365 the Price quantity field appears as Charges quantity, and Price Unit appears as Price Quantity - creating confusion due to inconsistent field and table naming. This inconsistency makes migration projects harder, as users struggle to understand how fields map between systems. We recommend Microsoft standardize and update these names in D365 to align more clearly, reducing confusion and improving usability during migrations.

  • In theory, Price Unit is the standard price quantity. In AX-2012, it is named directly as Price Unit and there is also another separated field named Price Qty. But in D365, Price Unit has converted the name entirely to Price Quantity.
  • Price quantity: Though its display name is ‘Price quantity’, it is described in MS document and directly in the field description in the interface as “quantity related to item charges” – or in other words, this is charges quantity.
