The original hire date should be a mandatory field - or be auto-populated with the earliest employment start date registered for the specific worker. Also there should be a calculation in Analytics based on original hire date, called f.ex 'Length of employment'.

This is a really important point. HR are interested in the first hire date of an employee for lots of calculations and for length of service. HR are not really interested in the hire date in the latest Legal Entity. From an end user point of view we really need to have service driven from the earliest employment.
Furthermore, having positions and legal entities unattached is not helpful. It would make sense for the original hire date to be on the employee and the last hire date being attached to the Legal Entity and the position being attached to the Legal Entity.
