During performance testing and customer usage scenarios, we observed a significant difference between Planning Optimization (PLOP) and the deprecated Legacy MRP engine when creating Production Orders from the Net Requirements page.

Current behavior

  • Planning Optimization (PLOP) requires approximately 45 seconds to generate a Production Order for a single item from Net Requirements.
  • The Legacy MRP engine performs the same operation in approximately 10 seconds.

Impact

  • The additional processing time accumulates significantly when planners must process many items.
  • Users experience longer planning cycles and reduced productivity.
  • Customers migrating from Legacy MRP to Planning Optimization perceive a performance degradation in a commonly used planning workflow.
  • In high-volume manufacturing environments, this delay can substantially increase the overall time required to review and process planned orders.

Expected behavior Planning Optimization should provide performance that is comparable to or better than Legacy MRP when generating Production Orders from Net Requirements.

Business value Reducing order creation time from 45 seconds closer to the Legacy MRP performance of 10 seconds would:

  • Improve planner productivity.
  • Reduce operational delays.
  • Increase customer confidence in Planning Optimization adoption.
  • Improve scalability for customers managing large numbers of planned production orders.
