In the engineering change order module, include a flag/toggle to update the Default Product Variant in released product details to the new version upon completion of the ECO. It is typically the case that the newest version is desired for future manufacturing or procurement. Updating the default variant is currently an extra step outside of the ECO process; extra steps are easy to neglect and as such this puts organizations at risk of manufacturing or procuring bad inventory.
