For distribution companies it would really make a lot of sense to have the option of direct creation of a transfer order form the sales line. One can create a production order from the sales line, which is exactly right for make to order manufacturing business. The important thing there is that this prod order is guaranteed marked against the sales line. we need exactly the same thing for Transfer orders. When I would open the "create transfer order" screen from sales line, the TO warehouse would be filled in with the warehouse on sales line and I get to choose the FROM warehouse, which I have deciced upon after consulting the ON HAND screen. This would fit perfectly the distribution companies that we have encountered. It would also fit as a perfect enhancement in the "Delivery alternatives" where we can see the on hand in other warehouses and the sales person could decide to use inventory in other location, get it here and ship to the customer. An option in Delivery alternatives "Create transfer order" would be great. In some cases the sales user would modify the warehouse on the sales line and a transfer is not needed, we are going to ship from that other location. But both scnarios exist.

It would be great if we can accommodate transfwr order creation in po receipt to tranfer newly arrived material to other retail outlets and sub warehouses

Agree with the above suggestion

This is unfortunately in the wrong node, as this is not really a production control requirement. With the extension of the ATP delivery alternatives, some to these requirements should be covered, also consider that CTP has the ability to auto-create a needed transfer order on the fly as well. So from that perspective not sure about the importance of this.

A couple of other things to be considered in this design if possible:

- Allow multiple transfer orders for one sales order line to request stock from multiple other warehouses. This must work without splitting the sales order line into multiple lines itself.

- Setup a priority matrix which steers from which warehouses a transfer is allowed / not allowed.

Direct creation of transfer order from sales line also makes a lot of sense for Retail companies as well. When a customer order is created from point of sale for store pick up and product is not available at store, sales associate can view inventory from other stores or DC. He should be able to create a transfer order and request product from other stores or DC and receive products against this transfer order. Once product is received in stock, he can complete customer order for store pick up. If the transfer order can maintain traceability and linkage with originating transaction i.e. sales order, it would help.
