Description
Currently, when MRP runs and generates an action message (e.g., “Postpone 5 days”), the system does not provide any detailed explanation of what triggered this recommendation. Users are left to manually review all requirements for the item and guess the root cause, which is highly time-consuming and inefficient.
Problem
- Action messages lack transparency.
- Users cannot easily identify the underlying reason for changes such as postponements or reschedules.
- Manual investigation is required, leading to delays and reduced productivity.
Proposed Solution
Enhance MRP action messages by including a concise summary of the root cause behind the recommendation. For example:
- Scenario 1:
- “The production order for this item was rescheduled yesterday with a new date, causing the demand for this item to shift 5 days into the future.”
- Scenario 2:
- “The supplier calendar was updated, and the delivery week was blocked, resulting in a 5-day delay.”
This contextual information should be displayed alongside the action message in a clear and compact format.
Expected Benefits
- Improved transparency and decision-making.
- Reduced time spent investigating root causes.
- Increased efficiency in responding to MRP recommendations.
Impact
This feature will significantly streamline planning processes and improve user experience by providing actionable insights directly within the system.
