Add a new feature to assign a Mandatory field template to Released Products. Each template would allow the user to define which fields on the Released product are mandatory so you could assign different templates to different types of products. This would be a step up from the current templates which just copy field values from one record to another. While the fields in the template would not stop the user from saving the Released product record, it may make sense to default the stopped flags on the Default order settings of the item and prevent them from being unchecked until all mandatory fields are specified. It may even make sense to tie this to Product lifecycle states somehow as well.

To add, the Retail product templates are quite powerful but currently do not include any fields from Engineer tab and a few others used in manufacturing companies. Combining these features to make a more powerful tool for all industries would be ideal

yes maybe there could be an out of the box Case management template for creating new products and using workflow to complete the tasks

It's also important to segregate template fields by users, user groups or roles. Certain fields could only be completed by a certain group of users. So it would create a kind of tasks to be fulfilled for different users, who have to be warned about them.

Once the tasks are completed one after the other or parallelly, the product is unblocked and can be used in transactions.
