Currently, Microsoft Dynamics 365 allows storing only one GTIN per product per unit of measure when product dimensions (such as batch or serial numbers) are not used. This limitation is particularly challenging for industries such as pharma, where inventory is often managed without product dimensions.

For example, if a product P123 with UOM Box has an existing GTIN (GT123456789012) configured, the system does not allow configuration of an additional GTIN (SGT12345678901) for the same product and UOM. However, according to industry standards, manufacturers may assign multiple valid GTINs for the same product over time.

As a result, whenever inventory is received with a new or alternate GTIN that is not already configured in D365, the business faces operational challenges in receiving inventory, leading to manual workarounds and process inefficiencies.

Ask / Recommendation:

Introduce a capability in D365 to maintain multiple GTINs for a single product and UOM, independent of product dimensions. This enhancement would align D365 with global GTIN standards and significantly improve inventory receipt and compliance for regulated industries.
