With the new enhanced experience to add multiples lines to an Opportunity, Quote, etc. there should be a +New Product option to create a new product in the catalog right from the search screen or the grid if the desired product is not found (and needs to be added to the catalog because it is something that will be sold in the future in this or other opportunities).
