Situation :
Planning Optimization replaces the usual Master Resource Planning.
Within this Planning Optimization, CTP capability has been added, it becomes GA in 10.0.32.
But : this CTP is not yet able to run on the fly, when user saves the sales line. It's necessary to re-run the master plan. We are then loosing reactivity.
Idea : The request is then : retrieve instant capabilities of the existing CTP with the old MRP :
- Be able to request manually a delivery date control, on each sales line. Get an immediate information.
- Have a setting to activate by default this delivery date control, when user saves the line. If a risk of late delay is detected, inform the user with the form : "Requested delivery date can not be promised..." And visibility on alternative possible delivery dates (as the existing form).

This is crucial function that is needed to support our customers. We need the ability to use the CTP capabilities at time of order entry which will allow us to see real time product availability.

The inability to have CTP for planning optimization run at time of Sales order line entry disappointed our expectations for faster and enhanced CTP functionality with planning optimization. This impedes our ability to efficiently finalize orders on a per-order basis and removes our ability to see what the order shipping constraints may be during the order entry process.

Here is another problem to be solved.
Because of missing instant calculation, We are running CTP each 10 minutes.
Still this gives problems in several departments
- Sales department has to wait (up to 10 minutes) for the calculation when the customer asks for a delivery date instantly
- Production get an error message when the reschedule production errors at the same time when CTP runs

Crucial functionality for many of our customers. The lack of this forces us to keep using the traditional MRP.
I totally agree with the other posted comments, such as the ability to confirm delivery dates for a complete order at once, as well as instant CTP calculation also for sales quotations.

The "Instant CTP" functionality is critical to the 'real-time' Sales Order entry process for one of our global clients who plan to Go-live Jul-23. The lack of this feature would seriously impact their Sales Order operation and is currently stopping the adoption of Planning Optimisation within their overall solution.
