We love the idea of AppSource, and are developing a number of extensions to deploy this way. However! We also have a number of more trivial changes (field changes, new fields, internal extensions that aren't market ready) that we want to push to live tenants using our custom object range.

Currently the only way to do this is via AppSource. This involves a lot of extra steps and approvals which we do not feel are necessary. We have clients who trust our developments to work, and we don't want these developments to go to other users.

I suggest therefore it should be possible to push extensions to live tenants without going through AppSource - after all if the end users don't like them, they can always uninstall them again.

Thank you for this suggestion! Currently this is not on our roadmap. We are tracking this idea and if it gathers more votes and comments we will consider it in the future. Best regards, Business Central Team

I second that this issue is not completed.

Many/most apps that potentially reach AppSource start as the result of concrete a customer need (Customer A).
I might realize that this need applies to many customers, in which case I would consider going for AppSource.

Unfortunately, doing so means I cannot actually test or deploy the app to Customer A until the entire AppSource validation process has been completed.
The only workaround I have is that I have to renumber all objects to the PTE-range such that I can install it at Customer A. Now this customer cannot receive any upgrades though, once the app finally hits AppSource.

I don't know how you can say this is completed. One person posted that they found a work around for all the published information available and this gets changed to completed? Companies need a way to make basic changes which are specific to only that company. No need for AppSource for many customizations. What needs to be available is a supported way to load and install custom, private extensions.

We have extensions that we have applied to our tenants without going via AppSource. These have been developed in VS Code. We have also used this method to create extensions that change pages/add fields and even call code unit sections in code unit 1
