At this moment, the matching rule only applies for the e-mail address.
Some people have different e-mail addresses for their LinkedIn profile though. It would be amazing to change the algorithm according to this logic:
If email address matches, then match
If email address does not match, then check first name, last name, and company name, and job title.
So people can be targeted on LinkedIn via the other information they provided and you can reach a higher matched audience.
