The 2020 W4 form was implemented this year and not all the fields on the W4 form are in GP. There are workarounds noted on this blog of what to do for these fields. https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/dynamicsgp/posts/new-2020-payroll-w-4-how-does-it-work-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp Customers would like to see fields 4a and 4b added to GP, this will change our calculate engine dramatically and slow down payroll processing, but if the fields stick around into the 2021/2022 year it should be reviewed.

W4 Updates = Currently manually updating any adjustments made within step 4 of Form W4 (4A, 4B, or 4C) in GP behind the scenes versus it being automated. Can this form be updated within the next payroll upgrade so that we are not required to manually make any adjustments that our employees update in Section 4 of the Form W4? We would like to make sure this update is automated especially since the form changed several years ago and is expected to change again over the next year.

We use multiple systems and they all support these new fields, from our onboarding system to our applicant tracking system, we have places to store the values for boxes 4a and 4b. The missing link is this information does not have a field in Dynamics GP and cannot be used for the payroll calculation. There are many other payroll processors that support these fields, so isn't Microsoft in violation of the federal laws to include these new fields in their payroll calculation?

Not having a field in GP to enter what employee enters on new W4 form has been confusing and frustrating.
