When someone submits a marketing form with the setting being on "update contacts & leads", the Microsoft standard function creates a lead as well as a contact. Those contacts are pushed trough our customer journeys and our leads get a lead score after a while - this works pretty well.
Since this contact resulted in this specific lead though, we would like to fill in the "originating lead" field on the contact, as we do it on all the other entities (for example: opportunity when converting a lead). This shows us all the datasets resulted in specific leads and makes that number measurable.
And here comes the problem: out of the box, Microsoft does not fill that field on a contact level after a form submission. Also according to the Microsoft documentation the "OriginatingLeadId" must only be set in Create and not in Update.
We suggest, that on the marketing forms you will have a setting, that you can connect the datasets lead and contact, if you have the setting on "update contacts & leads". Also, it would be handy if the field "OriginatingLeadId" is changeable with an custom update statement.
