Currently, dimensions can be maintained on the project header and also on Resources. When capturing project costs for Resources and posting to project WIP and then to the G/L WIP account, all of these dimensions flow correctly and the G/L entries show all the dimensions used, whether from the Project header (which are copied to tasks) or from Resources. But when the project is completed and the WIP entries are reversed and moved to the Recognized Cost account, ONLY the dimensions that were maintained on the project header are carried to the Recognized Costs account. The dimensions in the G/L WIP account that were from the Resources do not carry to the Recognized Cost account. This means Accounting must reverse and correct these entries to apply the correct dimensions.

Example:

  • Project Header dimension = "Product Family" with value "Engine Parts", Code Mandatory
  • Resource dimension (person) = "Department" with value "Engineering", Code Mandatory

WIP entries that use Resources, will carry both of these dimensions in all postings (Project Journal, WIP Entries, and G/L WIP Entries).

Project is set to Complete:

  • All WIP entries are reversed and posted to the Recognized Costs G/L Account.
  • These entries only show the Product Family dimension and values (from Project Header)
  • The Department dimension is missing from the final entries in the Recognized Costs G/L Account.

I actually think this is a bug, but I can't submit bugs because I'm not a partner.
