Customized quote stages (quote status/stages: draft, sent, due, deleted, outsold)

When working with many quotations then it's impossible to remember status of each quote and to be able to assess quickly next potential step it would be easiest to have relevant status info. This little feature would save significant amount of time when working with quotations – especially for sales managers.

Current status info makes no sense and gives no indication of the next step available.

This is a great idea and I've actually asked our partner to create an extension for us to do this since the current status field doesn't really mean anything to our buyer.

Expanding on this idea -

  1. Status codes are stored in a reference table
  2. Clients have a page where they can maintain their own statuses (similar to reason codes)
  3. Status codes can be tagged to filter options as appropriate or sales/shipping or purchases/receiving transactions

Spot on!

its 21st century and you need software to be more productive and efficient. So such small developments will have lot bigger impact than dealing with some minor report issues you use once a year.

I see problem is related to the fact that BC is coming from ERP and ERP users are mostly bookkeepers who have no idea or no need to even think of sales or purchase process. Its dangerous to use info from bookkeeping department to develop software as they are living in their own bubble :)

it would save lot time if "status" field can be more relevant or customized. For example, sales related:

  • Quote sent
  • Quote approved (useful as often order not created until contract signed)
  • Rejected
  • Cancelled
  • Deleted
  • Order confirmed
  • Waiting for products
  • In Transit/Shipped
  • Delivered (but not yet invoiced)

Same logic can be behind Purchase entities. It would literally save tens of minutes if not hour per day. Imagine if you have 100+ quotes, orders and you need to understand what is going on as sales manager or sales person. Its simple feature to implement but would have massive impact on efficiency.
