The report inspector should allow us to see:
- The ID and Name of the current report
- The current selected layout (ID, Name, Type) of the report
- The Dataset, it's values, and applied filters, of the current report
- Any errors that prevent the current report from running (currently there's no error info available when something goes wrong.)
- The ability to export the dataset (to xls, xml,...), so it can be analysed
Comments
This needs to work for Word reports as well as RDLC reports

Working in a post-windows client world, developers can't debug RDLC errors - nothing is displayed in "Last error".
Hope to see this fixed in 2020.

Really useful feature that has been omitted from the web client. Now that there is no Windows Client that can be used to debug report behaviour you are left guessing whether a problem is with the dataset generated or the report layout.

Why do we even need to vote for something like this?

Please provide this feature as it has left the developers little helpless.

The modern client almost inherited all functionality from windows client like F8, saving page filter etc. Which is great! One important feature - for developers and more advanced end users - is still missing though: the inspector as described above!
In practice I now have to rebuild the AL-report in CA/L trying to reproduce situations to investigate. This has to be taken into account in new implementations and upgrades to al resulting in higher costs for our customers.

What could be awesome, with being able to see the dataset again, would be the ability to export the dataset and use it in Report Builder to test the layout locally.

We need this feature as soon as possible, without it good report designing and debugging is not possible.

Without this feature, the RDLC report developer is blindfolded - please do this ASAP
