PROBLEM
Depreciation convention only specifies the start of the depreciation calculation whether date of placed in service or the first of the month of placed in service.

This does not require service life for reducing balance

Hence this error/validation received for all TAX books using reducing balance is wrong. It should be based on depreciation method and not depreciation convention
