Detect Duplication of Records

Hello,

It would be great to have a configuration option on the External Document No. to not allow duplicates, so customers can limit entering duplicate PO's from customers.

Also, the ability to detect similar customer names, or a way to merge customers and keep history would be great.

Thank you for your feedback. Currently this is not in our roadmap; however, we are tracking it and if we get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in the future.

Keep in mind that merging of duplicate customers, vendors and contacts has been delivered in Business Central April 2019 release:

There are few thing you mention here. First about checking for duplicates on sales side based on external document number is in our backlog.
Detecting similar customers functionality exists and is implemented through duplicate detection. If you open Sales & Relationship manager role center you'll see duplicates tile and in Marketing Setup you can adjust the way duplicates are detected. These work for customers and contacts.
Merging customers that are detected as duplications is not in our roadmap; however, we are tracking it and if we get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in the future.
