When you qualify a lead that does not have an existing parent contact an Account, Contact, and Opportunity are created. On the opportunity the parent account is defaulted to the account that was created by qualifying the lead, but the parent contact is not defaulted to the contact that was create by qualifying the lead.

If the lead you qualify does have an existing parent contact (parentcontactid field is populated prior to qualifying) then the opportunities parentcontactid is defaulted as it should be. The opportunities parentaccountid is even defualted to a newly created account when the lead has an exitisting contact as it's parentcontactid but does not have anything in parentaccountid. In that case a new account is created, defaulted as the parentaccountid on the opportunity and the parentcontactid on the opportunity is defualted to the parentcontactid that was specified on the lead prior to qualification.
